TSJCL Announces New Monthly Online Contests!
The TSJCL is excited to announce two new online monthly contests this year, the Club of the Month and Service of the Month, to recognize Latin clubs active in celebrating the classics and benefitting the local community throughout the year.
Want to enter? Click the link below or go to the Monthly Contests page under the Events in the menu! Winners will be announced each month and featured on the website in honor of their recognition.

Fall Board Meeting Recap
The new 2018-2019 TSJCL board met this Saturday at the Jesuit College Prepatory School of Dallas, where board members finalized area convention dates and edited new state contest rules. Stay in touch: rules will be posted soon!

Spring Board Meeting Recap
The TSJCL board met one final time for the 2017-2018 school year at Alamo Heights High School, San Antonio. Among the subjects discussed at the meeting included T-shirt designs for national convetion and appointed officer positions. The board welcomes the newly appointed officers and area chairs below:

- Katiana Soenen and Jude Farrell, Convention Coordinators
- Alex Moree, Area A Chair
- Clarissa Valenciano and Tatianna Saenz, Area B Chairs
- Troy Schouten and Nathan Shelton, Area D Chairs
- Lorelei Ing and Emma Schmidt, Area F Chairs
Last but not least, the board also bids farewell to all our outgoing officers and high school graduates. Valete, and we look forward to working with the new board in the 2018-2019 school year!

Editor Position Deadline Extended to Monday, May 14
Still interested in applying for an appointed officer position? The Editor application deadline has been extended to Monday, May 14!
Once again, applicants must submit the Nominations Form, cover letter, and resume. Candidates for Editor should include a mock Torch cover. Applications must be emailed to the parliamentarian and Ms. Wenzlaff by May 14. Interviews will be held via Google Hangouts after all applications have been submitted.

Appointed Officer Applications Open!
Love the classics? Want to become a TSJCL state officer? Applications for appointed officer positions editor, webmaster, treasurer, and parliamentarian are open now!
Applicants must submit the Nominations Form, a cover letter, and a resume. Candidates for Editor should include a mock Torch cover, and candidates for Webmaster should include a mock web design. Applications must be emailed to the parliamentarian and Ms. Wenzlaff by May 1. Interviews will be held via Google Hangouts after all applications have been submitted.

State Convention Recap
The board congratulates all who attended an amazing weekend of classics, learning, and fun at the 2018 TSJCL state convention! Here were some highlights of the convention:
- Over 1800 students and teachers were registered from 90 different schools and separate entities
- Around $850 were raised for scholarships
- 643 pairs of socks and about 200 notes were collected for the homeless in 1st vice president Isabella Zou's service project
- Will Snider was elected as the board's first ever outreach coordinator
- The board welcomed Carl Quist as the new TSJCL president. Other new officers include 1st vice president Luke Martin, 2nd vice president Nour Kassem, secretary Grant Morrison, and historian Faith Padgett. Congratulations and welcome to the board, officers!

Aristotle Scholarship Application Open!
Applications for the Aristotle Award scholarship for an NJCL registration packet are now being accepted through April 23. The award will reimburse the cost of one Texas student's registration for this summer's NJCL convention at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The winner of the award will be notified on or before May 1, so that they may register for NJCL by May 15. Interested students should apply at the following link: Aristotle Award Application

Passionate about Latin? Love record-keeping? Enjoy scrapbooking? The TSJCL is currently looking for a new historian! Interested applicants should read the letter and fill out the nomination form, which must be sent to the parliamentarian and parliamentarian sponsor. Deadline is March 9!
