State Chair nomination forms now available

At the 2008 TSJCL Convention, sponsors will be electing two new state chairs. The elections will be for place 3 - a five-year term for the seat currently held by Larry Martin - and place 4 - a one-year term completing Clint Hagen's term, who is also going off the board this year. Anyone interested in running for this position should refer to the TSJCL by-laws, Article X: Election of TSJCL State Chairs. The bylaws are available online at www.tsjcl.org. Candidates will be given a brief opportunity to address sponsors at the convention during the first sponsor/chaperone meeting on Friday night.

DUTIES OF THE TSJCL STATE CHAIRS:
All TSJCL state chairs are expected to attend three board meetings annually. Attendance at the annual NJCL convention is also assumed. Additional duties may include: test creation for the annual TSJCL convention; mentoring of TSJCL student officers; financial oversight of the organization; the filing of tax returns; serving as a discipline/contact person at NJCL and TSJCL conventions; planning/guidance for state fellowships at NJCL; serving on committees for board appointments; providing oversight for the TSJCL web site; and serving as a liaison with the Texas Classical Association at the annual TCA fall conferences.
