TSJCL sponsors a number of academic competitions for students of Latin, Greek, and classical studies. Each of our five areas has a convention in January or February, and the state convention is usually in late March or April. Our competitions include academic contests, as well as artistic, musical, and athletic contests.

State:

The 2007 TSJCL Convention was at Sandra Day O'Connor High School in San Antonio/Helotes on March 30 and 31. Results and answer keys are now up under "Downloads".

The 2008 TSJCL Convention will be held at Atascocita High School in Humble on April 11 and 12. Details about the convention will be put up later.

Nationals:

The 2006 53rd annual NJCL convention was held from July 30th through August 5th at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. The convention motto was amicitiae nostrae memoriam spero sempiternam fore - I hope that the memory of our friendship will be everlasting.

The 2007 54th annual NJCL convention was held from July 22nd through July 29 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee. The convention motto was carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero - seize the day, trusting as little as possible in tomorrow.

The 2008 55th annual NJCL convention will be held from July 28th through August 2nd at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The convention motto is non nobis solum nati sumus - we are not born for ourselves alone.
